Using the most current business license list from the Town of Golden. 101 individual responses - of 297 number contacted


Longevity of Businesses

Golden’s businesses are in it for the long haul, with over 78% of respondents having been open for 10 + years.

Accessible Business

We asked all respondents whether or not their business was considered accessible. This will be included in a list of accessible businesses and made available to those who need it.

Current Business Concerns

Business owners were asked to highlight the issues that affected their business most. The first  six options were identified as potential problems by Chamber Staff before the start of the survey. There was also the option to add an additional concern. The additional concerns were predominately based in frustrations with COVID-19 and the ensuing lack of tourists, supply chain problems and ongoing regulation changes.


  • Internet Quality - 57%

  • Lack of Public Transport - 34.4%

  • Availability of Employee Housing - 37.6%

  • Availability of Employees - 65.6%

  • Availability of Commercial Space - 19.4%

  • Permitting or Licensing frustrations - 23.7%

  • COVID-19 Related - 20%

  • Parking - 3%




Reason to be in Golden

Golden has an amazing community and our locals are what keep businesses around for so long! When business owners were asked why they loved doing business in Golden, without hesitation, they said ‘our community, the people or our regular customers’. 


Things that make business in Golden Frustrating

There were many answers to this question. Here are some of the repeated responses and other highlights.

  • COVID Issues 

  • Road Closure 

  • Readdressing the Employee shortage

  • Rural Area - power outages and access to supplies

  • Town Council was seen as difficult to deal with

  • Seasonality

  • Extra Charges for shipping


What should a Chamber of Commerce do for you?

This was posed as an open ended question and some respondents had no opinion on the matter.


Here are some of the most common and other relevant responses:

  • Great that the Chamber provides the Health Care Plan

  • Send more business to each business

  • Advocate for local businesses

  • Learning Experiences

  • Encouraging Local Shopping

  • Keep working for better internet
